The Southern Coastal Regional Employee Benefits Fund is offering an opportunity for member entities to apply for a health and wellness grant. For the 2025 budget, the Fund has introduced a per-employee budget system, allowing the wellness budget to grow alongside the fund year after year. The proposed budget will remain at $175,000 in calendar year 2025 for such projects but will continue to grow as we do. All grant applications to the Coastal Fund should be used only for employees enrolled under the entity’s medical plan. To be eligible for the grant, an entity must propose the program that will best meet their needs and which will also allow them to develop and sustain an employee wellness program.
We have observed a significant impact on the health of our fund that is directly correlated to the wellness program. Below is a comparison of the average medical loss ratio between groups participating in our wellness program and those that do not:
The application process goes as follows: after application submission, the Fund Program Manager will review each application for completeness of Fund goals as they relate to the guidelines. The Program Manager then forwards the reviewed applications to the Fund’s Wellness Committee with a recommendation of acceptance or denial. Once approved, the applications will be placed on the next regularly scheduled meeting for a formal vote of approval or denial. Following grant approval, expenses must be submitted using the HIF Reimbursement Voucher along with all receipts and appropriate documentation for consideration.
